AUSTRALIA TOUR, 13-23 April 1966
This tour has unsurpassed historical importance as it was Bob Dylan’s first appearance in Australia. All the concerts during this tour contained electric sets, similar to what Dylan shocked fans with at Newport the year prior. The musicians Dylan employed as his backing band during the 1966 tour were known as "Levon and The Hawks". They subsequently became famous as The Band soonafter.
There were seven concerts in the 1966 Australian Tour:
April 13 Sydney, Stadium
April 15 Brisbane, Festival Hall
April 16 Sydney, Stadium
April 19 and 20 Melbourne, Festival Hall
April 22 Adelaide, Palais Theatre
April 23 Perth, Capitol Theatre
