Talkin' Bear Mountain Picnic Massacre Blues
"Talkin' Bear Mountain Picnic Massacre Blues" is a song recorded by Bob Dylan in April 1962 and finally released on THE BOOTLEG SERIES VOL. 1-3 (1991). Dylan was inspired to write the song when Noel Stookey of Peter, Paul, and Mary showed him a story Stookey had read in The New York Herald Tribune 19 June 1961 about a father's day cruise that had become disastrous when the boat became overcrowded due to the selling of counterfeit tickets to the event.
This song is a talking blues, style popularized by Woody Guthrie, one of Bob Dylan's main musical inspirations.
