     Originally called THE BERKELEY GAZETTE, the newspaper was published between 1898 to 1978, with some variations in title. It was the primary newspaper for Berkeley, California. The title NORTH EAST BAY INDEPENDENT AND GAZETTE was used 1978-1981.
