'Ticket, Cinema, Music, Sports, Play, Art, City, TV; FM, CD, Video, Book'. The monthly magazine ぴあ [PIA] started its publication in 1972. Published by Pia Corporation; it was the first Japanese entertainment information paper and covered most of the events in greater Tokyo area. The publisher, Pia Corporation, was operating a box office called 'Ticket PIA'. So people used to check events with this magazine and buy tickets at Ticket PIA.
When it became weekly in 1990, it changed its name to WEEKLY PIA.
In 1986, 'PIA Kansai version' and in 1988 'PIA Chubu version' were published, each one for specific towns in the country. These magazines suspended their publication in 2011.
