This songbook presents 13 songs from the early 60s: five released on the First Album and eight unreleased at the date of publication (Ballad For a Friend, He Was A Friend Of Mine, Man On The Street, Poor Boy Blues, Ramblin' Gamblin' Willie, Hard Times In New York Town, Standing On The Highway and Talkin' Bear Mountain Picnic Massacre Blues). It also includes the fantasy biography of young Bob Dylan ('...his restlessness took him to Gallup, New Mexico, Cheyenne, South Dakota...').
With five songs from the album (Gospel Plow, Man Of Constant Sorrow, Pretty Peggy-O, Song To Woody and Talking New York) this is what gets closer to a songbook of the 1962 'BOB DYLAN'.
